Recommended Action:
a) Approve ranking of firms for Request for Proposal #23-393 Design Cape Haze Water Quality Improvement Project: 1st - Giffels-Webster Engineers, Inc.; 2nd - Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.; and
b) Approve start of negotiations; and
c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the contract after completion of negotiations. This is for a qualified firm to provide professional engineering services for the Cape Haze Water Quality Improvement Design with Charlotte County Utilities Department (CCUD).

BACKGROUND (Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished)

Background:
This is for a qualified firm to provide professional engineering services for the Cape Haze Water Quality Improvement Project to assist with preparing engineering documents and information required to meet funding requirements including the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) State Revolving Fund (SRF) and various grant funding requirements. The project includes the installation of a new potable water system to replace the existing potable water mains and evaluation of use of the existing potable water mains for possible delivery of reclaimed water. Some storm/drainage improvements are also expected to improve existing drainage.

It is anticipated that the overall services under this contract will be provided over a 48-month time period and coordinated with the MSBU and funding alternatives approved for this project. Professional Services Committee members consisting of Bruce Bullert, Utilities Enginee...
